The house was originally built in 1885 but has been run as a hotel by the same family since 1948. Situated in its own well established 35 acres of gardens and mature woodland, this Victorian hotel, with its 22 individual bedrooms has all the style and comfort that goes into a true 'Country House'.
Fly fishing is important business here and Gliffaes overlooks the River Usk, on which the hotel has 2.5 miles of brown trout and salmon fishing. The hotel is located near the unspoilt village of Crickhowell, midway between Brecon and Abergavenny and prides itself on friendliness and good food without too much pretension. Gliffaes has been awarded an AA Rosette for its cooking for the 6th year in a row. Gliffaes is dedicated to regional food and local producers and attempts to source 75% of its fresh produce from within 25 miles of the hotel.
There is a tennis court, putting green and a croquet lawn within the hotel grounds. Golf, riding, shooting, sailing and boating activities are all available near by. Gliffaes also provides business retreats and wedding ceremonies.
Even viewed through a raging storm, the Gliffaes' meandering driveway exudes an effortless air of class
