Calor introduces carbon offsetting

A survey recently conducted on Calor's behalf showed that businesses in the catering and hospitality industry are more knowledgeable than most with regard to carbon emissions and the worst-offending appliances.

Faced with a choice of tumble dryers, patio heaters, plasma televisions and mobile phone chargers, 92% of catering businesses corectly identified patio heaters as the appliance which emits the least CO₂.

Even so, Calor are offering businesses the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint yet further, by setting up a carbon offset scheme.

Carbon offsetting means paying someone to reduce CO₂ in the atmosphere by the same amount that your activities add. In this way you can ‘neutralise’ or ‘balance’ the CO₂ added by your activities.

Calor are working with a DEFRA-recognised, not for profit organisation called Equiclimate, who will offset CO₂ emissions by buying carbon allowances from a number of countries so that they are forced to produce less carbon. This means that carbon starts getting cut straight away.

Offsetting the carbon emissions of your patio heaters allows you to demonstrate your care for the environment - and show it off proudly. For each offset purchased, we'll send you a sticker for your heater that shows its emissions have been offset.
